Medal Count made his debut at Ellis Park, breaking his maiden by 6 1/4 lengths. The Dynaformer son rose to graded stakes company at Keeneland, finishing fifth in his next start, the Grade 3 Bourbon Stakes. As a 3-year-old Medal Count won the Transylvania and finished second in the Blue Grass Stakes (G1) just one week later.
The colt ran eighth in the Kentucky Derby after a troubled trip. He then ran in the 2014 Belmont Stakes, finishing third behind Tonalist and Commissioner and just ahead of California Chrome.
