Maraud

Maraud, a Blame colt owned by Treadway Racing Stable and trained by Todd Pletcher, won his career debut on the Saratoga turf by two lengths on Sept. 2, 2017. He then finished a good third in the Grade 3 Pilgrim Stakes at Belmont Park. Maraud ran third in the Pulpit Stakes at Gulfstream Park in December 2017 in his final start as a 2-year-old, beaten by 8 1/2 lengths by Speed Franco.

In his 3-year-old debut, Maraud won a 1 1/16-mile race on the grass at Gulfstream Park by two lengths. He stayed on the same course and distance for his next start and turned the tables on Speed Franco, edging his familiar rival by a neck to win the Grade 3 Palm Beach Stakes. He then shipped north to Keeneland for the Grade 3 Transylvania Stakes and ran fifth behind budding star Analyze It. He bounced back in his next race, closing powerfully to win the Grade 2 American Turf Stakes Presented by Ram Trucks.

After back-to-back unplaced finishes, Maraud took the lead in deep stretch of the Grade 2 National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame Stakes in August 2018 but could not hold off the late rally of Raging Bull and finished a hard-fought second.

By 2010 Breeders' Cup Classic winner (and vanquisher of Hall of Famer Zenyatta) Blame, Maraud is a three-quarter sibling to Grade 2 winner Arklow.

Maraud's dam (mother), Unbridled Empire, is a half-sister (same dam [mother], different sire [father]) to Grade 1 winners Fourty Niners Son and Cindy's Hero.
