Malagacy entered the 2017 Rebel Stakes as a live contender from Todd Pletcher’s barn based on his first two starts earlier in the year.
The 3-year-old Shackleford colt romped by 15 lengths in his career debut at Gulfstream Park in a 5 ½-furlong maiden special weight over a sloppy track in January, and then won a 6 ½-furlong allowance optional claiming race by seven lengths at Gulfstream in February.
