Lombo emerged on the 2018 Road to the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve with a front-running two-length win in the 1 1/8-mile Grade 3 Robert B. Lewis Stakes on Feb. 3 at Santa Anita Park.
The 3-year-old Graydar colt had finished seventh in his career debut on turf in fall 2017 but improved when switched to dirt by trainer Mike Pender, finishing third and then winning a 6 ½-furlong maiden special weight at Santa Anita on Jan. 20. He progressed nicely when stretched out to two turns in the Robert B. Lewis, earning 10 qualifying points for the Kentucky Derby.
