Sold for $475,000 at the 2011 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Yearling sale, Lochte was sold two years later for $60,000 at a Fasig-Tipton Horses of Racing Age sale after failing to break his maiden in five starts as a 3-year-old.
Lochte is out of stakes winner Lemon Kiss, who is a sister to multiple graded stakes winner Kiss the Kid. Lochte's granddam also carries royal blood as she is a half-sister to Horse of the Year Black Tie Affair.
