Limation, an Alternation colt owned by Michael Langford and trained by Steve Asmussen, scored a 26.40-1 upset win in the Grade 3 Super Derby at Louisiana Downs over favorites Lone Sailor and High North on Sept. 2, 2018, to pick up his first stakes win and third in eight starts.

The colt broke his maiden in his fourth start during May at Churchill Downs and also won an allowance race at Ellis Park in July before making his first stakes start in the Ellis Park Derby on Aug. 12. He finished eighth in that race but improved substantially in the 1 1/16-mile Super Derby, stalking the pace and driving clear at the top of the stretch en route to a 5 ¾-length win.
