Klimt finished fourth in his career debut for Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert but he rebounded in a big way to win his second race by 5 1/4 lengths. He then was tested in a graded stakes and aced the exam with a 2 3/4-length runaway win in the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes at Del Mar. Klimt next gave Bob Baffert his record 13th win in the Del Mar Futurity on the final day of Del Mar's 2016 summer meet.
In his final prep for the Sentient Jet Breeders' Cup Juvenile Stakes, Klimt finished second to Gormley in the Grade 1 FrontRunner Stakes on Oct. 1.
