Irish Straight earned his first career win in his second start, but he needed some time to develop. In his next six races, he finished third twice before an allowance win in August 2015 at Monmouth Park halted the losing streak. After a third-place at Monmouth, he won an allowance race at that track before shipping to Parx Racing where he won again. He closed out his 4-year-old season with an unplaced finish in his stakes debut.

Irish Straight returned as a 5-year-old in 2017 and finished third in the Grade 3 Tampa Bay Stakes to begin his season. Three starts later, he earned his first career stakes win when he won the Grade 3 Red Bank Stakes in front-running fashion at Monmouth Park in May. He returned to the Jersey shore for the Grade 3 Monmouth Stakes and finished second to Money Multiplier on the Haskell Invitational Stakes undercard.
A half-brother to 2017 Wood Memorial Stakes winner and Kentucky Derby runner Irish War Cry, Irish Straight is a New Jersey-bred homebred of Isabelle H. de Tomaso.
