Hotshot Anna

Hotshot Anna earned her first win in her second career start in September 2016 at Canterbury Park. She ran fourth in the Letellier Memorial Stakes at Fair Grounds in December that year in her stakes debut before winning her 2017 debut at the New Orleans track.

The chestnut filly placed in a pair of stakes before winning the Northbound Pride Oaks in may 2017 at Canterbury. Winless in her next four starts, Hotshot Anna got back on track with a win in an allowance/optional claiming race in May 2018 at Canterbury. She then made her second start on a synthetic surface and her first since her career debut in the Grade 3 Chicago Handicap at Arlington Park. Hotshot Anna took command on the turn and opened a clear lead in the stretch en route to a runaway victory in which she set a new track record for seven furlongs in 1:20.93.

Hotshot Anna closed out 2018 with two more stakes wins at Presque Isle Downs in the listed Satin and Lace Stakes and the Grade 2 Presque Isle Downs Masters Stakes. She did not return until over nine months later, finishing second at 3-5 odds in her attempt at a repeat win in the Chicago Handicap at Arlington. But she then ripped off a three-race winning streak, the latter two coming in the same stakes races she won in 2018 at Presque Isle. She won the 2019 Presque Isle Downs Masters Stakes by a driving 1 ¼ lengths over graded stakes winner Talk Veuve to Me, re-establishing her credentials as one of the best synthetic-surface racehorses in training.
