Glorious Empire (IRE)

Glorious Empire won four of his first six starts in Europe before a victory in his first race in Hong Kong. He shipped to the United State in late summer 2016 and finished fifth in the Ontario Jockey Club Stakes at Woodbine on Sept. 11.

In July 2017, Glorious Empire halted a nine race winless stretch with a win in a $50,000 claiming race at Saratoga. He ewas unplaced in a pair of Grade 2 races to close his 2017 season.

Glorious Empire ran sixth in the Henry S. Clark Stakes at Laurel Park in April in his 2018 debut and followed with an allowance/optionaling claiming race win at Delaware Park, where he could have been claimed for $65,000. Shipping back to Saratoga for the Grade 2 Bowling Green Handicap, Glorious Empire set the pace and held on gamely in the stretch to finish in a dead heat for the victory with Channel Maker for his first career stakes score. He followed with another dominant victory utilizing the same tactics as he led from start to finish in a visually impressive victory in the Grade 1 Sword Dancer Stakes at Saratoga, where the "Win and You're In" race earned him a guaranteed starting spot in the Longines Breeders' Cup Turf.

Glorious Empire set the pace in the Breeders' Cup Turf but he faltered and was eased in the race. He bounced back nicely in his next start, again taking command early and driving clear on the final turn to a tour de force victory in the Grade 2 Fort Lauderdale Stakes on Dec. 15 at Gulfstream Park.
