When trainer Ron Faucheux and owner Brittlyn Stable purchased Gantry, a Pulpit gelding, privately following an allowance race at Belmont Park in October 2011, they were just hoping for a nice sprinter to run in Louisiana and made the 2011 Thanksgiving Day Handicap at Fair Grounds his first goal. Their new purchase rewarded them with the victory in the opening day feature at the New Orleans track and is now taking them well beyond their wildest dreams.

Gantry proceeded to win two more stakes at the Fair Grounds, including the Duncan F. Kenner Stakes before tackling the Churchill Downs Handicap (G2), in which he finished third to Shackleford and last year’s champion sprinter and Breeders’ Cup winner Amazombie. In June, he secured an automatic berth to the Breeders’ Cup Sprint with his victory in the Smile Sprint Handicap (G2).
