Seltzer Thoroughbreds' Finest City picked up a career-defining win in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint at Santa Anita Park on Nov. 5.
The Eric Kruljac-trained 4-year-old filly stalked the pace early in the seven-furlong race, and then outdueled 2015 Filly and Mare Sprint winner Wavell Avenue to win by a half-length.
Her win gave Kruljac his first Breeders' Cup victory, and jockey Mike Smith his record 24th. After the 2016 season, Finest City was named the Eclipse Award winner as champion female sprinter.

Finest City, a daughter of City Zip, had been knocking on the door in Southern California throughout 2016, finishing a good third behind eventual Longines Distaff winner Beholder in the Grade 1 Vanity Mile and winning a Grade 2 race at Los Alamitos.
Finest City carried the momentum over to 2017 by winning her season debut in the Grade 2 Santa Monica Stakes in January. She then ran second in the Grade 1 Santa Margarita Stakes and finished second in the Grade 1 Humana Distaff Stakes at Churchill Downs on the Kentucky Derby undercard.
