Field of Courage, a 5-year-old Marchfield gelding owned by Quintessential Racing Florida and trained by Mark Casse, scored a breakthrough win in the Grade 2 Nearctic Stakes on Oct. 15, 2017, at Woodbine, defeating England-based group stakes winner Cotai Glory by 1 ¾ lengths at odds of 40.35-1.
Field of Courage, a 5-year-old Marchfield gelding owned by Quintessential Racing Florida and trained by Mark Casse, scored a breakthrough win in the Grade 2 Nearctic Stakes on Oct. 15, 2017, at Woodbine, defeating England-based group stakes winner Cotai Glory by 1 ¾ lengths at odds of 40.35-1.
The Ontario-bred gelding was a player on the Canadian Triple Crown trail as a 3-year-old in 2015, finishing a close third in the Prince of Wales Stakes but seventh in the Breeders Stakes. He then competed mainly in allowance optional claiming races until August 2017, when he finished fourth and then second in black-type stakes at Woodbine before his upset win in the Nearctic.
