Fast and Accurate broke through for his first victory in his fourth career start, winning a maiden claiming race by 4 1/2 lengths going one mile at Turfway Park. He then switched to grass for the first time for the Sage of Monticello Stakes at Gulfstream Park, and like his first win led from start to finish in a convincing victory. Trainer Mike Maker then tested Fast and Accurate in the Grade 3 JACK Cincinnati Spiral Stakes and he took a major step forward with a clear victory that punched his ticket to the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands.

Fast and Accurate is from the first crop of 2011 champion 2-year-old male Hansen and is owned by Dr. Kendall Hansen, the owner and namesake of Fast and Accurate's sire. Fast and Accurate is out of the Green Dancer mare It's Heidi's Dance, a half-sister (same dam [mother], different sire [father]) to graded stakes winners Bwana Bull, Bwana Charlie and My Pal Charlie.
