Escape Clause opened her career by winning eight of her first 11 starts, including seven stakes races, all at Assiniboia Downs in Western Canada. The Manitoba-bred next went to Century Downs and won the CTHS Sales Stakes.
After four straight losses followed, Escape Clause got back on track at Assiniboia with a 3 ½-length win in the La Verendrye Stakes in June 2018 that ignited a nine-race winning streak. That included her first two wins in black-type stakes in the City of Edmonton Distaff Handicap at Northlands Park and the Kathryn Crosby Stakes at Del Mar.
