Economic Model competed against the best of his class early in his 3-year-old campaign in 2016, making his first start of the year in the Grade 3 Swale Stakes and finishing second to Awesome Banner. He reached peak form during the summer, winning the listed Easy Goer Stakes and then placing in three consecutive graded stakes, including runner-up finishes to Fish Trappe Road in the Grade 2 Dwyer Stakes and to Drefong in the Grade 1 Ketel One King’s Bishop Stakes.
