Dream Tree, owned by Phoenix Thoroughbred III and trained by Bob Baffert, emerged as a top West Coast-based 2-year-old filly in 2017 with three consecutive wins – at Santa Anita, at Del Mar in a listed stakes, and then an impressive 3 ½-length win in the Grade 1 Starlet Stakes at Los Alamitos Race Course.
The Uncle Mo filly continued her winning streak into 2018, scoring an easy victory in the Grade 2 Las Virgenes Stakes to open up her 3-year-old season on Feb. 4.

A minor injury knocked Dream Tree off of the Longines Kentucky Oaks trail, and she did not return to racing until Sept. 2 in the Grade 2 Prioress Stakes at Saratoga. She showed no rust whatsoever in her comeback, romping by 4 ½ lengths over Mia Mischief and extending her career unbeaten streak to five.
Dream Tree missed the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint due to an entrapped epiglottis. She returned in the Dec. 26 Grade 1 La Brea Stakes at Santa Anita Park and suffered her first defeat, fading to last of eight as the 7-10 favorite.
