Dothraki Queen

After a seven-length runaway win iin her career debut, Dothraki Queen capably handled a big step up in class when she held off Bold Quality and Dream Dance to win the Grade 3 Pocahontas Stakes in her second career start. She followed that up with a second-place finish in a sloppy edition of the Grade 1 Alcibiades at Keeneland. The filly then finished third in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies over the same track. Dothraki Queen wrapped up her 2-year-old season with a third-place finish in the Golden Rod Stakes.

A $35,000 purchase by trainer Ken McPeek at the 2014 Keeneland September yealing sale, Dothraki Queen is out of the winning Saint Ballado mare Sharaiji Blossom, a half-sister (same dam, different sire) to 2002 Hong Kong Horse of the Year Electronic Unicorn, Canadian champion Ambitious Cat and 1997 Kentucky Oaks winner Blushing K. D.

Dothraki Queen's name comes from the famous George R. R. Martin fantasy series "A Song of Ice and Fire" that also was made into an HBO television series called "Game of Thrones." The Dothraki are feared warriors in the series, and the most famous of their queens is Daenerys Targaryen, who married Dothraki warrior Khol Drogo and became known as "The Mother of Dragons."
