Copper Bullet, a $200,000 yearling purchase in 2016 by co-owner Winchell Thoroughbreds, finished second in his debut during Keeneland’s spring 2017 meet, and then broke his maiden by eight lengths at Churchill Downs.
He was then entered in the Grade 3 Bashford Manor at Churchill, where he finished second to Ten City. Shipped to Saratoga for the Aug. 13 Grade 2 Saratoga Special Stakes, Copper Bullet put it all together with an impressive four-length win.
