Hyped up before he even made his first start, Competitive Edge lived up to expectations. Winning his Saratoga debut by 10 1/4 lengths for trainer Todd Pletcher, he extended his record to 2-for-2 in the Hopeful Stakes when winning by 5 3/4 lengths.
As a 3-year-old in 2015, Competitive Edge extended his win streak to four with tallies in the Tamarac Stakes and the Grade 3 Pat Day Mile Stakes but disappointed when last in the Grade 2 Woody Stephens on Belmont Stakes day. His run in the Haskell will be his first start around two turns.

Competitive Edge is by the 2010 Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver and is the first foal of stakes-placed Magdalena's Chase. He was a $750,000 purchase earlier this year at a Florida 2-year-olds in training sale for Kathy Psoinos and Nancy Favreau. After his thrilling maiden victory, Coolmore partner Michael Tabor also bought into part of the colt.
