After winning one of his first nine starts when racing on synthetic, dirt and turf surfaces, Chocolate Ride began racing strictly on the grass and his career took off. He won four of his final five races in 2015, a run that included back-to-back wins in the Grade 3 Fair Grounds Handicap and Grade 2 Mervin H. Muniz Jr. Handicap.
Chocolate Ride opened his 2016 season with a win in the Grade 3 Col. E. R. Bradley Handicap and a repeat victory in the Fair Grounds Handicap.
