Chocolate Martini broke through for her first career win in her fourth race on Jan. 12, 2018, winning a maiden claiming race at Fair Grounds where she was claimed by Double Doors Racing. She subsequently ran fourth in another claiming race on the grass before switching back to the main track and winning an allowance race by a neck on Feb. 18 while earning a then-career-best 92 Equibase Speed Figure. She then tried stakes compatition for the first time and posted a 13.90-1 upset win in the Grade 2 Fair Grounds Oaks on March 24.
