Chapalu, a 2-year-old Flatter colt owned and bred by Edward Seltzer and Beverly Anderson, finished second in his career debut on turf at Laurel Park in August 2019 and then shipped to Keeneland for its October meet and scored by 3 ¾ lengths in a one mile turf race.
He jumped up to graded stakes company next, traveling north to Woodbine for the Grade 3 Grey Stakes. Chapalu set the early pace in the 1 1/16-mile race on Woodbine’s Tapeta Footings main track and held on to win by a half-length, improving his career record to 2-for-3.
