Capla Temptress (IRE)

Irish-bred Capla Temptress won her first two career starts in England during summer 2017 before finishing a good third in her stakes debut, the Group 3 Sweet Solara Stakes at Newmarket.

Purchased by Team Valor International, the Lope de Vega filly shipped to Woodbine and posted an impressive three-quarter length victory in the Sept. 17 Natalma Stakes to earn an automatic berth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. Capla Temptress encountered traffic trouble in the Juvenile Fillies Turf and finished seventh in her final race as a juvenile.

In her 3-year-old bow, Capla Temptress targeted a French classic race, the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches, and she finished fourth, beaten by a half-length. She subsequently shipped back to the U.S. for the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks Invitational Stakes and again ran into traffic while seventh by 3 3/4 lengths. Making her next start in the Grade 2 Lake Placid Stakes on Aug. 18 at Saratoga, Capla Temptress finished second to star 3-year-old Rushing Fall. After back-to-back unplaced finishes in graded stakes, Capla Temptress regained her best stride with a dominant victory in the Grade 3 My Charmer Stakes on Dec. 15 at Gulfstream Park.
