Café Americano opened her career with back-to-back victories, winning a maiden race in February 2019 at Gulfstream Park and an allowance race at Belmont Park in June, both by open lengths. She made her stakes debut in the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks invitational Stakes July 6 and finished sixth after a very wide trip.

Café Americano was entered next in the Grade 3 Pucker Up Stakes on the Aug. 10 Arlington Million card and she became the fourth graded stakes winner of the day for trainer Chad Brown. Café Americano closed from 10th in the 11-horse Pucker Up field, seized command in the stretch, and powered away to a 2 ¼-length victory.
Two-time Canadian champion Roxy Gap, by Indian Charlie, is the dam (mother) of Café Americano.
