Bobby’s Wicked One, a Kentucky-bred son of Speightstown, won his career debut at Fair Grounds on Nov. 25, 2017 by three-quarters of a length. Over the next year and a half, he competed in five sprint races and one at a mile, finishing second twice and third twice. After closing out his 3-year-old season with a fifth-place effort in the Grade 1 Malibu Stakes, the colt returned to trainer Al Stall’s home base of Fair Grounds for a freshener.

Bobby’s Wicked One returned to the track on Feb. 2 at Fair Grounds and scored a gate-to-wire seven-length win in a six-furlong allowance, and then backed that up with a 6 ¾-length win at the same track and distance on March 10. His connections moved him back into stakes company, contesting the seven furlong, Grade 3 Commonwealth Stakes at Keeneland on April 6, and Bobby’s Wicked One extended his career-best form with a front-running score 1 ¼-length score under Miguel Mena. Bobby's Wicked One stepped up to Grade 1 competition next, where he finished second behind Mitole in the Churchill Downs Stakes on Derby day.
Robert Guidry’s Autumn Hill Farms bought Bobby’s Wicked One for $130,000 as a Keeneland September yearling in 2016.
