Blueridge Traveler finished fifth in his career debut and followed with a pair of runner-up finishes. He then won a 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight race at Oaklawn Park by charging from off the pace to prevail by a head. Making his stakes debut in the JACK Cincinnati Casino Spiral Stakes, Blueridge Traveler charged from well back to finish second and put himself in the conversation for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands.
The Ken McPeek trainee started off 2018 well with two wins and two thirds in his first four starts, including a stakes win at Sam Houston Race Park.
