Big Macher made his first start in July of his 3-year-old year and would not win a race until his fourth start three months later. His current connections saw potential in the late-developing gelding and claimed him out of his debut for $20,000.
Big Macher made his first start in July of his 3-year-old year and would not win a race until his fourth start three months later. His current connections saw potential in the late-developing gelding and claimed him out of his debut for $20,000.
The gelding was victorious in his fifth start as well, and made two more in-the-money starts before trying stakes company. Big Macher won the Donald Valpredo California Cup Sprint Stakes, was second in the Grade 2 San Carlos and won the Grade 2 Potrero Grande. He then captured the Grade 1 Bing Crosby and with it a place in the starting gate for the 2014 Breeders' Cup Sprint.
In 2015 Big Macher had a pair of fifth-place finishes early in the year before winning the Pirate's Bounty Stakes at Del Mar in September.
Big Macher is a son of late California sire Beau Genius, out of the unraced Kris S. mare Insight.
