Better Lucky made her debut at Aqueduct, breaking her maiden by 4 1/4 lengths. She continued to be successful at Belmont, winning an allowance race and the Grade 2 Sands Point Stakes. She placed in multiple stakes races, before finishing the 2012 season with a win in the Grade 1 Matriarch Stakes.

Heading into 2013 she placed in the Grade 1 Jenny Wiley and Longines Just a Game Stakes, and the Grade 3 Noble Damsel Stakes. The Ghostzapper filly brought home a win in the Grade 1 First Lady Stakes at Keeneland and rounded out the year with a third-place finish in the Grade 1 Matriarch.
As a 5-year-old Better Lucky won the Shine Again Stakes on the dirt and placed in a pair of graded stakes on the turf, including the First Lady. The mare was pre-entered in the 2014 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint and the Breeders' Cup Mile.
