Bashart

Bashart didn't break his maiden in his first start but he drew attention from fans at Saratoga in August when he won by 1/2 length for trainer Todd Pletcher. Pletcher and owner-breeder Rosedown Racing showed confidence in the colt by entering him in the With Anticipation Stakes where he paid them back by winning by an easy 1 1/4 lengths.

In his last start before the 2013 Breeders' Cup, Bashart finished second by a length after the Bourbon Stakes was rained off the turf. However, the effort didn't deter his connections, who entered him in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf where he ended up finishing sixth.

Bashart is by hot sire War Front, who is the sire of multiple horses in the 2013 Breeders' Cup, including Breeders' Cup Classic contender Declaration of War. Bashart is a half-brother to stakes winner Squallcreek and out of a half sister to stakes winner Timely Reserve, who is the dam of multiple graded stakes winner Sandtrap.
