Awesome Banner made quite a first impression when he rolled to a 9 3/4-length runaway victory in his career debut in June 2015 at Gulfstream Park.
He did not return to the races until January 2016, when he won his 3-year-old debut by 4 3/4 lengths in the Grade 3 Hutcheson Stakes at Gulfstream. He similarly impressed in the Grade 2 Swale Stakes later in January with a five-length romp to improve to 3-for-3.

Stretching out in distance for the first time in the Grade 2 Xpressbet.com Fountain of Youth Stakes, Awesome Banner ran out of gas and faded late when tasting defeat for the first time. After another unplaced finish in the Grade 2 Lambholm South Tampa Bay Derby, Awesome Banner got back on track with a win in the Big Cypress Stakes in June 2016 at Gulfstream Park, He added stakes wins that fall in the Florida Sire Prized Stakes and the Florida Sire Foolish Pleasure Stakes.
In 2017, Awesome Banner ran well against top competition but struggled to regain his winning form, placing in five stakes, including runner-up finishes in the Grade 1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap, Grade 3 Smile Sprint Stakes, and Grade 2 Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix Stakes without a win in his first eight starts.
