After placing in a stakes race as a 2-year-old, Ashleyluvssugar made his graded stakes debut in the Grade 2 San Luis Rey Stakes and pulled away to win by 2 1/4 lengths. He followed with a half-length score in the Grade 2 Charles Whittingham Stakes. His final race in 2015 was a runner-up finish in the Grade 2 Del Mar Handicap.

Ashleyluvssugar opened his 2016 season with a third-place finish in the Crystal Water Stakes at Santa Anita Park before a runner-up finish in the Grade 2 Eddie Read Stakes. He followed with wins in the Grade 2 Del Mar Handicap Presented by The Japan Racing Association and the John Henry Turf Championship Stakes. He also finished fifth in the Longines Breeders' Cup Turf at Santa Anita.

In 2017, Ashleyluvssugar continued to compete at a high level, winning two of his first four starts through the end of May. On May 28, he picked up his second win in the Charles Whittingham Stakes under a well-timed ride from Gary Stevens. She next finished second in the Grade 1 Eddie Read Stakes in July at Del Mar.
