Arawak

Arawak won his career debut impressively in May 2017 at Belmont Park. He was shipped to England where he competed in the Group 2 Coventry Stakes at the prestigous Royal Ascot meeting. He finished 12th of 18 in the Coventry but was beaten by only 6 1/4 lengths against a group of the most precocious 2-year-olds in England. 

Returning to the U.S., Arawak made his next start in August at Del Mar and ran fifth in the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes before running third in the Fasig-Tipton Turf Showcase Juvenile Stakes. After running sixth in an off-the-turf edition of the Grade 3 Bourbon Stakes at Keeneland, Arawak finished sixth on soft ground in an allowance race at Keeneland. He halted a five-race winless stretch with an allowance victory on the synthetic surface at Turfway Park in December in his final start at two.

Arawak made his 3-year-old bow in the John Battaglia Memorial Stakes at Turfway Park and  rallied willingly for third. He then matched that third in the Grade 3 Jeff Ruby Stakes, a points race on the Road to the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve.
