Actress finished second in her career debut in March 2017, followed by another runner-up finish in the Game Face Stakes at Gulfstream Park in April. In May the filly moved north to Pimlico for the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan, breaking her maiden in that race over a sloppy track at odds of 12-1.
Actress finished third in the Grade 3 Delaware Oaks and then fourth in the Grade 1 Alabama Stakes in the summer before running sixth in the Grade 1 Cotillion Stakes. She regained her winning form in November with a dominant victory in the Grade 3 Comely Stakes.
