Each Week, Tordjman will provide readers with his two best bets of the weekend and strategies for how to bet them. Good luck!

Saturday, Aug. 3, Saratoga Race Course, Race 1, 1 p.m. ET

#3 Silver Prospector: This horse ran a really nice race on debut last month and he stretches out on Saturday for a barn that’s 2-for-2 at Saratoga with horses making their second start. The stretch out to a mile and a sixteenth should allow this horse an opportunity to get good position inside, on or near the lead. He’s bred to go longer and his sire, Declaration of War, has produced winners at a 17% clip among his 2-year-old starters on the turf. Look for that debut experience to come in handy on Saturday as we look to kick off the Whitney Stakes card with a winner that should go off at odds of at least 3-to-1.

Strategy on a $10 Budget

$1 exacta 3 with 1,2,4,5,8 ($5)

Strategy on a $50 Budget

$1 exacta 3 key box with 1,2,4,5,8 ($10)

Saturday, Aug. 3, Saratoga Race Course, Race 4, 2:46 p.m. ET

#1 Derby Champagne: We cashed nicely on this horse a few weeks ago when he went off at odds of 12.30-to-1, so we’ll go right back to the well with Derby Champagne. This much is clear: He absolutely loves Saratoga and he’s always an overlay (goes off at odds higher than he should). Were it not for him getting caught behind traffic last out, he probably wins the race, which was his first time running at the $25,000 claiming level. He’s facing several of the same runners here, including #3 Patriot Drive who was the beneficiary of a much easier trip when he won that last race.

Strategy on a $10 Budget

$2 win, place and show on #1 Derby Champagne ($6)

$1 exacta 1,6 with 1,6,8 ($4)

Strategy on a $25 Budget

$4 win, place and show on #1 Derby Champagne ($12)

$1 exacta box 1,6,8 ($6)

$1 trifecta box 1,6,8 ($6)

Strategy on a $50 Budget

$10 to win and $5 to place and show on #1 Derby Champagne ($20)

$1 exacta 1 with ALL ($11)

$1 exacta box 1,4,6,8 ($12)

$1 trifecta box 1,6,8 ($6)
