Fair Grounds, Race 8, $75,000 Marie G. Krantz Memorial Stakes, 4:53 p.m. ET

#6 Coachwhip: There’s a decent amount of speed signed up for this 1 1/16-mile turf stakes, which creates a pace scenario that could benefit Coachwhip. This mare consistently ran well in 2018 and then she picked up a win at the Fair Grounds in her most recent start last week. This is a big step up in class for her but her consistency, success on this turf course, and the potential for a dream, stalking trip make her extremely playable, especially at odds of 10-1 on the morning line.

Fair Grounds, Race 9, $75,000 Louisiana Stakes, 5:22 p.m. ET

#5 Silver Dust: Just like our first play of the weekend, Silver Dust has some step-ping up to do to contend at this stakes level with several established horses such as Honorable Duty, Hawaakom, and Snapper Sinclair. Pioneer Spirit looks to be the main speed and probably will knock heads early with Snapper Sinclair, while Harlan Punch tracks them. I can envision Silver Dust getting a nice stalking trip behind that trio, maybe even saving ground on the rail. In addition to his win last out at the Fair Grounds, Silver Dust ran arguably one of his best career races here last March when he won and was placed second via disqualification. He seems to be rounding back into top form and should make an impact late at what might be a pretty solid price.

$2 win, place, show on #5 Silver Dust ($6)

$2 exacta box: 5,7 ($4)

Strategy on a $25 Budget
