Dan’s Double of the Week, featuring handicapping analysis from America’s Best Racing’s New York correspondent Dan Tordjman, is brought to you by Horseplayers.com, the official online qualifying site of the Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge (BCBC) and National Horseplayers Championship (NHC).

Horseplayers.com offers low-cost feeders every day and BCBC and NHC qualifiers every weekend, and it’s the only site where you can qualify for the $1 million BCBC. It’s free to sign up – click here to get information about registering and how to enter contests.

When it comes to making money when handicapping races and betting on horse racing, it’s all about picking winners. Tordjman – DanonymousMan to those who follow him on Twitter – is one of the sharpest horseplayers around.

Each week, Tordjman will provide readers with his two best bets of the weekend and strategies for how to bet them. Good luck!

Laurel Park, Race 3, 1:22 p.m. ET

#9 Trading Cents: This filly was last seen on the turf against better, going longer, at Gulfstream Park. This is a whole new setting for her against bottom-level claimers at Laurel. She also returns to the dirt where she’s previously had more success than on the grass. Trainer Ricardo D’Angelo removes the blinkers here, which has been a winning angle for him. The barn has been sending out some winners in general, and I think it’ll stay hot here with Trading Cents.

Laurel Park, Race 5, 2:18 p.m. ET

#10 Distilled Spirit: There’s no trainer who wins at a higher rate with 2-year-old runners at Laurel than Cal Lynch. He’s winning at 24% overall (35% with jockey Xavier Perez riding) and close to 30% with 2-year-old starters. He’s especially reliable with horses like Distilled Spirt who are taking a big drop in class. The horse who finished behind Distilled Spirit from his debut race came back to win next out. That race was pretty solid for a debut effort and this one should enjoy cutting back to that six-furlong distance.
