#7 Lem Me Have It: Coming off a week in which we went for 2-for-2 with our picks and netted nearly $1,200 in winnings, let’s see if we can beat a vulnerable-looking 3-5 favorite in the opener at Belmont. Cash Offer (#2) will take plenty of money, but she’s all speed out of the gate and she’ll have to contend with early pace to her outside from both #3 Moon Heist and #5 Aquariva. I think that opens the race up to an off-the-pace type and Lem Me Have It fits the profile. You can put a line through her last race — it was a turf try going long. She cuts back here to a six-furlong distance that saw her run second on debut at Belmont in her only race on this track. She also posted a strong figure sprinting last out on the dirt at Saratoga. Look for her to be rolling late.

#9 Quarky: We’ll have to keep an eye on the weather, but assuming this race goes on the turf, Quarky could be sneaky in this spot. This is another one who’s cutting back after a failed try at a mile and a sixteenth at Monmouth last out. Her best race by far was three races ago at Belmont when she ran eight horses off of their feet. Trainer Mike Dini has been hot of late and he gets the services of one of the leading local riders here in Luis Saez. Look for Quarky to fire out early and play “catch me if you can” with this field. There’s a good chance she’ll take them all of the way.
