America’s Best Racing, Belle Premium American Vodka, and handicapper (and avid gambler) Monique Vág team up to provide horseplayers with their best bets of the weekend.

Vág will identify her top picks as well as at least one longshot play of the weekend, a nice opportunity to swing for the fences on a win bet or to take a shot with a show bet. She also will occasionally look for strong exacta plays for the weekend or try to spot a nice opportunity for other wagers.

Belle Premium American Vodka is the official vodka of America’s Best Racing. The American-made, American-owned vodka is distilled in Virginia, the birthplace of Thoroughbred breeding and racing in North America. The company’s mascot, Belle ‘n Tonic, broke her maiden at Laurel Park in Maryland in April 2018.

This Weekend’s Bets

Saturday, Nov. 9

Best Bet

Aqueduct, Race 6, 2:20 p.m. ET

#5 Instilled Regard: I love to see this colt back on the turf – his best efforts have been over this surface, including a career-best speed figure of 101 in the Hollywood Derby. Today he drops out of stakes company and should relish the distance of the race and being able to face off against much easier. If on his game, he should make light work of this field.

Longshot Play

Aqueduct, Race 9, $100,000 Atlantic Beach Stakes, 3:50 p.m. ET

#7 Montauk Daddy: He looked really good sprinting last time out at Saratoga, but was unable to hold on at the wire trying Lasix for the first time. He returns after a few months away from the track and adds blinkers. First-time blinkers has been a successful angle for trainer Linda Rice in the past who is clicking at 27% off that angle.

Best Bet

Woodbine, Race 8, $100,000 Frost King Stakes, 4:41 p.m. ET

#4 Rockcrest: The two shorter-priced runners seem to be one-way speed horses that will be vying on the front end early. This could set up well for my top choice as he doesn’t need the front end to win and is at his best when tracking early speed. Although he tried his luck on the turf last time out versus stakes company at Keeneland, returning to Woodbine to face off against easier and getting back on the all-weather surface could be a recipe for success.

Longshot Play

Churchill Downs, Race 10, $175,000 Commonwealth Turf Stakes, 5:36 p.m. ET

#3 Clint Maroon: The mile and an eighth distance seemed a bit too long in his most recent effort, so it is nice to see him return to a distance he has found the most success at today. The experience against stakes company is also a big asset in here with quite a few horses trying their luck versus much tougher. I think this gelding is at his best working out a stalking trip, and he draws a great post today to do exactly that.

Sports Pick of the Weekend

Sunday, Nov. 10

NFL: Baltimore Ravens @ Cincinnati Bengals

PICK: Baltimore Ravens –9.5(-110): The Bengals have struggled to stop the run all season and Sunday they will be up against one of the league’s best rushing attacks. The Bengals have the advantages of coming off a bye, playing on home field and start a new quarterback in Ryan Finley, but none of that will matter. Baltimore has so much momentum coming off a 37-20 win over the Patriots, and will easily handle business versus this divisional foe.
