#5 Chastise: This is a really fun-looking betting race and I’m hopeful we can catch a little bit of a price here with Chastise. The filly comes off of a really poor effort when last seen nearly a year ago at Keeneland. Layoffs this long generally keep bettors away but trainer Todd Pletcher generally has them ready to fire after a long time away from the races — in fact, he shows a 33 percent hit rate with horses coming back off of a three or more month layoff. Chastise finished third on debut, just a length behind a next-out winner, and then came back to win herself in her very next race. Jockey John Velazquez was up for that race and returns in this spot on Saturday.

#6 Uni: She might’ve been a bit overlooked in her first U.S. start, last out in the Belmont Oaks Invitational, but Uni ran a really solid third behind her barn mates New Money Honey and Sistercharlie. Uni didn’t break from the gate all that well and ran into some traffic while trying to close late. Trainer Chad Brown excels with international shippers making their second U.S. start and Uni shows a really nice set of progressive works since her run at Belmont.
