When it comes to making money when handicapping races and betting on horse racing, it’s all about picking winners. Dan Tordjman, America’s Best Racing’s New York correspondent, is one of the brightest young minds in the game.

Each week, Tordjman – DanonymousMan to those who follow him on Twitter – will provide readers with his two best bets of the weekend and strategies for how to bet them. Tordjman will keep track of his return on investment (ROI) throughout the year and, as a bonus, he will also provide picks for a selection of the key races on the Triple Crown trail and the road to the Breeders’ Cup. Dan was able to manage a positive ROI for his plays in 2016. Come back every week and be sure to follow Tordjman on Twitter.

Belmont Park, Race 9, 5:45 p.m. ET

#6 Nobody Move (15-1): There’s a heck of a lot of speed in the state-bred allowance race, sandwiched between a bunch of pretty significant stakes. I’m looking for a price here, and hopefully we’ll get it with this one. If you throw out his race last out against tougher and the race two-back on the Aqueduct inner track, his form isn’t all that bad. Last time sprinting on this track, he posted his best career number when beating comparable state-bred allowance horses by six lengths.

Arlington Park, Race 8, Grade 3 $100,000 Hanshin Cup Stakes, 6:09 p.m. ET

#4 Valiant City (10-1): This old guy has been as honest as they come over the past few years and he’s hardly ever run a bad race at Arlington — He’s won 5 of 12 races on this track and finished in the money on 10 of those occasions. He comes in fresh and reunites with jockey Chris Emigh, with whom he’s won several races here at Arlington. He finished third in this race last year, and with any luck he might have finished even better. No question he’ll represent good value and should run a big one.
