Big-Race Showdown: Derby Spotlight Shines on Risen Star

Whether it’s the run up to the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands or the Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series, there’s great racing action nearly every weekend of the year. Starting this year, America’s Best Racing is challenging some of the brightest minds in horse betting to come up with their top three picks for key races leading up to the Derby and the Breeders’ Cup.

On Saturday, the $400,000 Risen Star Stakes, a Road to the Kentucky Derby points race that awards 50 points to the victor, takes center stage at Fair Grounds in New Orleans. TVG will televise the Risen Star, the final local prep race for the Louisiana Derby, with a scheduled post time of 6 p.m. ET.

The player’s picks will be posted here and a running bankroll will be kept to track their success all year long. Bankrolls will be tabulated on the basis of a $2 win bet on top selections and $2 exacta and $2 trifecta box bets of each player’s top three selections.
