Joe Sharp

Joe Sharp took out his trainer's license in 2014 and picked up his first stakes victory in February 2015 at Louisiana Downs with One King's Man. Sharp earned his first graded stakes win later that year when Sandbar won the Grade 3 Maryland Sprint Handicap. He finished fourth with his first Breeders' Cup runner, Sapphire Kitten, who competed in the 2015 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.

In spring 2017, Sharp campaigned his first major Kentucky Derby contender in Risen Star Stakes and Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby winner Girvin.

Sharp, who served as an assistant to Mike Maker before going out on his own, is married to retired jockey Rosie Napravnik.
