The Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational was introduced for 2019 as a companion race for the Pegasus World Cup Invitational. The Pegasus World Cup Turf replaces the Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap on Gulfstream Park’s racing calendar.
The inaugural running carries a $7 million purse and is open to 12 horses, with an entry fee structure similar to that of the Pegasus World Cup Invitational.
The Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap was held at 1 1/8 miles and has been won by the likes of Einstein (twice), Kip Deville, Point of Entry, and Heart to Heart in recent years.
