Smokin' T began his racing career as a 2-year-old in 2021 but really came into his own as a 4-year-old during the 2023 season. He scored an allowance optional claiming win at Churchill Downs on May 5, and then won his first career stakes race at Saratoga when he took the $135,000 Fasig-Tipton Lure Stakes at 1 1/16 miles on the turf atop a seven-horse field on Aug. 6.

Smokin' T won his first graded stakes race on Nov. 11, 2023, when he rallied from mid-pack in a 12-horse field to win the Grade 3 $300,000 River City Stakes by 1 3/4 lengths going 1 1/8 miles on the grass at Churchill Downs.
Smokin' T is trained by Shug McGaughey. He was bred in Kentucky by the sire War Front out of the mare Wine Princess by Ghostzapper.
