Neptune's Storm

Neptune’s Storm needed four starts to earn his first career win, showing improvement in his third race when switched to the turf before a half-length win in November 2018 going a mile on the grass at Santa Anita.

The Stormy Atlantic gelding ran third in his 3-year-old bow but followed with an allowance win Feb. 1 at Santa Anita, where he won a  one-mile turf race by 1 ½ lengths. Neptune’s Storm was a well-beaten second in the Pasadena Stakes in his stakes debut, but followed with back-to-back wins at Santa Anita in the Singletary Stakes in April and Cinema Stakes in June.

Neptune’s Storm was beaten by a neck in both the Grade 3 La Jolla Handicap and Grade 2 Del Mar Derby in August and September, respectively, at Del Mar. He subsequently was shipped east to Belmont Park for the Grade 2 Hill Prince Stakes and earned a breakthrough graded stakes win when he reeled in pacesetter A Thread of Blue in deep stretch to prevail.

Returning to California after that victory, Neptune's Storm raced in five consecutive graded stakes without winning through early summer 2020, finishing second once and third twice. He regained top form on June 14 at Golden Gate Fields, posting a game head win over Kiwi's Dream in the Grade 3 San Francisco Mile Stakes.
