Lady Rocket won her first stakes race at Charles Town on Aug. 27, 2021. The daughter of Tale of the Cat won the Misty Bennett Pink Ribbon Stakes by 1 3/4 lengths as the odds-on favorite. Florent Geroux put her on the lead early in the seven-furlong contest, and she never looked back.
Lady Rocket won her first stakes race at Charles Town on Aug. 27, 2021. The daughter of Tale of the Cat won the Misty Bennett Pink Ribbon Stakes by 1 3/4 lengths as the odds-on favorite. Florent Geroux put her on the lead early in the seven-furlong contest, and she never looked back.
After a second-place finish in the Grade 2 Gallant Bloom Stakes at Belmont Park on Sept. 18, Lady Rocket bounced back with a win in one of the divisions of the Pumpkin Pie Stakes on Oct. 31. She took control in the stretch and opened up a clear lead, then held off the rally of Glass Ceiling to win by a head.
Lady Rocket added a graded stakes win to her credentials on Dec. 4, when she won the Grade 3 Go For Wand Handicap at Aqueduct in an impressive performance. She set the early pace and drew off from the others in the stretch, covering a mile in 1:36.52.
Back for a 5-year-old campaign, Lady Rocket was prominent early in her first two starts of 2022 but tired in both to finish fourth in the Grade 1 Madison Stakes and third in the Grade 2 Ruffian Handicap. But she rebounded to post a sharp front-running 2 ¾-length score in the Grade 3 Chicago Stakes June 25 at Churchill Downs with Ricardo Santana Jr. in the irons.
That victory improved Lady Rocket’s career record to 7 wins from 14 starts for owners Frank Fletcher Racing Operations and Ten Strike Racing and trainer Brad Cox.
