Fair Maiden began her racing career at Arlington Park on Polytrack and finished second in her June 2019 debut before defeating future turf graded stakes winner Pixelate by 14 ½ lengths in July. The Street Boss filly then moved to Woodbine and raced very well in two turf stakes, winning the listed Catch a Glimpse Stakes by 7 ½ lengths and then just missing in the Grade 1 Natalma Stakes, finishing third by a neck.

The Godolphin homebred then finished a disappointing 12th in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf and was away from the track until fall 2020. Trainer Eoin Harty brought her back on dirt and the filly responded with an impressive win in a six-furlong sprint at Churchill Downs. She then finished fourth in a listed stakes at Keeneland before shipping to Santa Anita Park for the Grade 1 LaBrea Stakes on that track’s Dec. 26 opening day.
Under jockey Ricardo Gonzalez, Fair Maiden broke well, stalked in midpack, and swung wide for an stretch rally, winning the seven-furlong LaBrea going away by 2 ¼ lengths.
Fair Maiden is out of the winning Smart Strike mare Fieldmaiden. Her third dam is millionaire and Kentucky Oaks winner Secret Status.
