The Medaglia d’Oro mare won at odds of 66.70-1 for trainer John Kimmel and owners Chester and Mary Broman. Prior to the Breeders’ Cup, she had been a dependable money earner, winning six of 24 starts with six seconds and four thirds and over a $1 million bankroll. She won her first three starts before running competitively in graded stakes and picking up three black-type stakes wins in 2016 and 2017.
