Blog - FASHION

With the Kentucky Derby just around the corner, I wanted to share some of my favorite looks from the Louisiana Derby in hopes to inspire you as you figure out what to wear for the big race.

Louisiana Derby day drew a stylish Southern crowd to the Fair Grounds in New Orleans on March 29. With sunny skies and a slight breeze, the weather was perfect for wearing big hats, seersucker suits, and colorful sun dresses. From babies to adults, the fashion scene was charming with classic Southern style.

I wore my favorite fuchsia and white-striped floppy hat from Les Dames Chapeaux - hat makers in New Orleans. I paired it with a bright silk dress that screamed, “Spring is here!” I was so excited to see my friend Jim Mulvihill of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association and fellow America’s Best Racing blogger. Jim and I go way back to my morning show reporting days when he was communications manager at Fair Grounds here in New Orleans. Jim looked very dapper in his sports coat and shades:
